Studied Fine Art at Manchester College of Art and Design with postgraduate study at Leeds College of Art and Leeds University. Currently teaches occasionally at Staffordshire University and is an External Examiner at the Universities of Leeds and Derby.
In 1983 founded and has subsequently acted as principal coordinator of Borderline Printmakers, a small federation of local, national and international artists with studio facilities for photography & printmaking and a reputation for educational outreach work.
In 2002 co-conducted an educational project for Whitechapel Gallery, London in conjunction with the Nan Goldin - Devil’s Playground show.
Has given artist talks at the Usher Gallery, Lincoln & Picture House Centre for Photography, Leicester in 2004, Wolverhampton University in 2006, and the Walker, Lady Lever and Bury Art Galleries in 2007.
